Medicare Supplement Plan B offers the same benefits as Plan A but the difference is that this type of plan covers Part A hospital stay deductible.
This plan can be good for one thing: you don’t need to pay multiple times in a year for the Part A deductible.
What is covered under Medigap Plan B
Since Medigap plan B covers the same things as Plan A and additionally Part A deductible, those benefits include 100% coverage for:
- Part A deductible is good because you can save quite an amount of money trough year in comparison to Medigap plan A
- Part A coinsurance
- hospital stay costs up to 365 days after Medicare benefits reach are dried out
- Part B coinsurance or copayment
- First three blood prints
- Part A coinsurance and copayment for hospice care
What isn’t covered by this plan?
Medigap Plan B doesn’t cover for:
- Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance
- Part B deductible
- Part B excess charge
- Foreign travel exchange
Medigap Plan B costs
Costs for every supplement plan is variable and not the same for every person who decides to enroll. Several factors can impact the cost amount such as tobacco usage, age, gender, living area, household, costs of the living, enrollment period, etc. However, the average cost is from 110$ to 210$ per month.
You are eligible to enroll as soon as you get Part B coverage and it becomes effective. After that, you have 6 month period to enroll with guaranteed issues which means you can enroll without answering underwriting health questions. When this period expires, you are eligible to enroll anytime you want but you’ll need to answer some questions about health.
