Costs for every supplement plan are variable and not the same for every person who decides to enroll. Several factors can impact the cost amount such as tobacco usage, age, gender, living area, household, costs of the living, enrollment period, etc. This is why it would be wise to contact a Medicare health advisor to get some help while estimating insurance costs appropriate for your specific situation and health status. However, the average cost is from 110$ to 210$ per month.

Medigap Plan B eligibility and enrollment

You are eligible to enroll as soon as you get your Part B coverage and it becomes effective. After that, you have 6 month period to enroll with guaranteed issues which means you can enroll without answering underwriting health questions. When this period expires, you are eligible to enroll anytime you want but you’ll need to answer some questions about health.

The above-mentioned 6 month period is also called the Medigap Open Enrollment period which is a time period you can use to enroll in a supplement plan of your choice. This period automatically starts the first month you get your Medicare Part B insurance and the only other condition you need to satisfy is that you are 65 years or older. After this enrollment period, you may not be able to buy a Medigap policy but if you in any case find yourself able to buy it, it may cost more due to your past or present health problems.
